  • (Nathan and I have been prayerfully considering moving into a house of our own. The following is a conversation I had with my younger siblings - Isaac [11 yrs.], Gabe and Gid [8 yrs.] and Emmye [5 yrs.] - after they found out we might be looking for a house in the near future)

Gabriel: "Mollee, God has answered your prayers! We found a house for you and Nathan to buy and it's IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!!! DOWN THE STREET FROM US!!!!!"
After viewing the info sheet about the house and its exorbitant price tag, I said: "Everything works for me but the price."
Gideon (totally confident): "Oh, we can help you with that."
Gabe: "We'll have a garage sale and give you the money for the house! Then you'll have enough for sure."
Emmye: "I have some toys you can sell for some moneys."
Isaac: "Mom and Dad can help you out."
Me: "I don't think that's gonna work.  They have to pay for your house first."
    (Brief pause)
Gideon: "Ask Daddy Dean. He'll pay for it."

  • I had so much fun at the lake on Monday and Saturday last week and at Magic Springs on Wednesday.  On Monday, I went with Mama, Jordan, and the little ones to meet Cheryl, Kelsey, the Walkers, MamaDean and DaddyDean.  We grilled hot dogs, swam, tubed, and rode around in the boat (Uncle Joe was a great "sea captain"). :)  Best quote:  I was driving to the lake, and Gideon (who sat on the back seat with a 24-pack of Diet Cokes sliding around on the cooler above and behind him) said to me, "If these drinks hit me in the head, you owe me a shunt!" HAHAHAHA! :)

On Wednesday, I went with Mama and the little ones to Magic Springs to swim and ride roller coasters.  Gabe and Zeke can outlast me on the Gauntlet.  Twice was my limit. We enjoyed Chinese food on the way home, and Emmye tried frog legs without knowing (sneaky big sister, shame on me).
When she asked me what it was I had given her to eat, I told her I'd give her hint and used one of the frog legs to imitate a hopping motion, saying, "Ribbet, ribbet."
She gulped and put up her hands to stop me, saying, "Don't EVEN tell me!"

Mama and I laughed until we cried.

On Friday, Nathan and I spent the day with some friends at the lake on their house boat and ski boat.  I got to kneeboard for the first time in about nine years! :)  It was so much fun....and even more enjoyable was the fact that my very athletic, very capable husband who regularly outplays me was UNABLE to kneeboard. heheh  I will say this, though:  Nathan was a killer when it came to wakesurfing, and I was not.  :)

I realized this week that it doesn't matter that I'm in summer school; I can still enjoy "summery" things. :)  Happy Summertime!!!!

  • sweet summertime

we had to give bowser back to aunt penny. our landlord would prefer we not keep a pet in the apartment. it was short-lived, but he is a sweet dog. :) we know he's with the one he loves the most anyway (aunt penny). i hope she moves up here.

summertime is well under way with summer school, tutoring, conway copies, planning the children's musical, and LOTS of family time. :)

last wednesday, we celebrated joey's 17th birthday at the walsh's with delicious crawfish etouffe and chocolate coffee liqueur cake. yummy!! being at george and cindy's is so relaxing. i really enjoy it.

last night, nathan and i went over to mom and dad's to play with the little guys and emmye while mom and dad enjoyed a date for their anniversary. nathan was pumped. he took his guitar over there and played rock band on the Wii with isaac, gabe, and gid for 2 and a half hours. haha. emmye and i played candyland and my little pony candyland. she is so sweet with samuel. who...by the way, mom was able to leave for 2 WHOLE hours. :) he is such a precious baby!

nathan and i are working out a lot this summer, too. we've enjoyed the last 15 months of wedded bliss and good food. and now, we're both feeling the literal WEIGHT of it. :D we frequent the UCA pool and gym and have brushed the cobwebs off our bikes in the garage to go for an occasional bike ride. in fact, i was almost turned off completely from exercising the other night when we were on the bike trail and nathan, who is about 15 feet in front of me, says, "Cool! There's a snake." I felt my toes ball up into my shoes as i approached light speed while a snake slithered across the path under my bike. i couldn't stop looking at it....and screaming. i hate the way those things move.

and on a more personal note, i still catch myself finding it hard to believe that i get to sleep next to and wake up beside my best friend and lover. some nights we talk long after "lights out," dreaming of where we'll be this time next year and what our children will be like. we still follow each other around this tiny apartment just to be in the same room, and i have to regularly remind my crazy man that some "grabs" are not for the public eye. ;) in a sentence, i guess i'm speechless that this man of such conviction, passion, and integrity chose me of all girls to be his wife. thank you, Lord.

  • TWO THINGS:

    1. We....against all expectations and claims that we're not "animal people," are enjoying immensely a teacup chihuahua named the mighty Bowser...... :)  haha....please don't be fooled....he's tiny, cuddly, quiet, and doesn't like all this rain we've been having.  Aunt Penny got him at Christmas as a puppy and has given him to us on a trial basis (more for our sake than hers, I think...haha) until we see her in June.  So far, he's marked three rooms in the house (the only three he's allowed to be in), slept completely through the night in our room (not in our bed though...lol), barked loudly at the thunder, and learned to do his business outside -- thanks to Nathan who is quite the "calm, assertive Pack Leader."  :)  Go, Nathan, aka the Dog Whisperer!!  I found a fleece baby blanket that's light blue and covered in baseballs, basketballs, and soccer balls and a mini blue bandana.  You can imagine how adorable that is. :)

    2.  This is part of a poem by e.e. cummings that I just love:

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any -- lifted from the no
of all nothing -- human merely being
    doubt unimaginable You?

I thank you, God, for this amazing day
and for giving to us this earth
    which declares your glory
    and shows your handiwork.

  • nathan has become very interested in medical school...he has done some preliminary research and discovered that the earliest he could begin med. sch. is fall of 2010.  he is still waiting to hear back from university of wisconsin about whether or not they've accepted him to their medical physics program for this fall (2009), but more and more it's looking like we are gonna be around conway for another year.  that makes me happy.

we are blessed to have very stable jobs that we both enjoy...most of the time. :)  so if it turns out that we stick around here another year, nathan and i will both work (him at conway copies, me at conway christian).  in the fall, nathan will apply to UAMS for medical school.  he plans to also apply to several other accredited schools for a graduate program in medical physics as another option.

as far as my opinions are concerned, i want nathan to choose a field that he enjoys.  moving to another school for a few years would be an adventure.  staying around here where we have family, church, jobs, and friends that we both love dearly would be so comforting.  either way, as long as we're together, i don't care where the Lord leads us.

it's a wonderful time in our lives.

(p.s. we are one week away from a one year married anniversary and a two year dating anniversary....!!!)
